3 points- Why Freedom is too much Work.

Freedom Costs

Ever hear that saying, “nothing in life is free?” Well it’s actually true. When someone offers you something for “free” it just means that someone else had to pay for it.

Somebody is going to lose something, while somebody is going to gain something.

Let’s look at some examples.

  • Healthcare-  taxes, (aka your money) pays for it.
  • Love- Most often one person gives more or sacrifices more than the other.
  • Forgiven sins- If you are a Christian then you claim that it’s Jesus, who ultimately had to die for sins.

Freedom means Change

Realistically, change is a lot of work, and not everyone has the strength, time, desire, courage, or will power to do so.

Oppression gives comfort

There is comfort and security in oppression. People like to stick to the devil they know rather than dealing with an unknown. It is easier to be oppressed than to try for better.

I’d rather stay drunk than deal with life.

I’m scared to leave jail because I have to do it all on my own.

I’d rather stay with my friends than meet new cultures and people.

These may seem irrational or extreme but we develop an oppression mentality, where we become dependant on the thing that oppresses us. “Oh I love you so much that I hate you.”

So what do you do now? How do you get out of your oppression mentality.

Fight your orepressor

I don’t mean physically fighting them, but do what you must within your power to counter the attacks. If it’s an addiction, cut yourself off. Sabotage yourself so you have no access.

Don’t look back

This only rubs salt in the wound, or ignites the flame. Ya it was nice when you could drink yourself to sleep in your underwear every night and not think about life, but that’s not what you are doing now. Start thinking about what you’re going to do instead. Which brings me to my next point.

Find something to replace your oppressor

This is not necessarily literal. This can be changing your way of thinking, this can be putting your energy into a project. Whatever it is, it won’t be easy but small steps travel great distances.
